"Fear"

3. a feeling of profound respect for someone or something - the fear of God

1. be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event
2. be afraid or scared of; be frightened of
FEAR... It comes in many shapes and forms. The one I have been most familiar with and the one that I want to be, oh so familiar with, are complete opposites. I want to have no fear, but to fear God.
Deuteronomy 8:6
So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and [reverently] fear Him.
Proverbs 8:13
The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.
This is the kind of fear I want.

2. religious zeal; the willingness to serve God
One of the meanings for respect is, "a feeling of friendship and esteem". How great is that? The fact that your "fear of God" could result in "a feeling of friendship and esteem". I believe at times that our understanding of the Word and of God only goes as far as our vocabulary. Or our understanding of that vocabulary.
I pray Colossians 1:4 for all who read this. I pray that the leaning of your entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness. (AMP)
